PFUJ

We researched the future of journalism so journalists could shape it.

Category: Research / Marketing

The gig economy has changed what it means to be a journalist in Pakistan. Freelancers work without the protections that union membership provides — but the frameworks for including them barely exist. PFUJ needed research that could inform real policy.

What we did

designed and conducted survey research, analysed data on freelance journalist integration into unions, produced insights to support policy development for journalists navigating the gig economy.
This project sits at the intersection of two things Red House cares deeply about — journalism and the gig economy. It directly connects to the research behind Resist.

The people who tell the stories deserve a story of their own.
